Company History

1909: Ecton Movers is Founded in Winchester by the late W.W. Ecton.

1948: Walter G. Ecton purchases Ecton Movers from his grandfather, W.W. Ecton.

1950: Walter G. Ecton took Ecton Movers to a new level by joining North American Van Lines as their newest agent.

1980: Ed Saunier married Shannon Ecton and shortly thereafter began working for his father-in-law in the moving business.

1985: Ed Saunier purchased Ecton Movers from Walter Ecton to continue the family tradition into its fourth generation.

1986: Saunier purchased the North American Van Lines agency in Lexington and combined the two agencies in Winchester and Lexington.

1988: Saunier Moving & Storage is founded as Lexington’s new agency.  The operations of Ecton Movers merges into the new company.

1989: 7,000 square foot warehouse facility is built on McCormick Drive in Winchester, and the company leaves its original home on Depot Street after 80 years.

1997: Expanding, Saunier builds a 20,000 square foot warehouse and office headquarters in the Winchester Industrial Park and moves the company after eight years on McCormick Drive.

2001: Saunier Moving & Storage opens its third agency in Louisville.

2001: The Louisville agency grows into its new home, a 10,000 square foot warehouse and office facility.

2014: Saunier Moving & Storage continues to operate out of its Lexington-area headquarters located in the Winchester Industrial Park, as well as the Louisville-area headquarters located off the Watterson Expressway.  Saunier Moving & Storage continues to be North American Van Lines’ largest agency in Central Kentucky, serving all communities in Central, Eastern, and Southern Kentucky, Southern Indiana and Ohio, Northeast Tennessee, Western West Virginia and Virginia.
